I have written on a wide variety of subjects over the years, though I now mainly focus on my specialist areas of social history, community, culture and the urban environment, especially in relation to Liverpool.

Publications I have worked for include, but are not limited to: The Guardian, The Big Issue, Metro, Drownedinsound.com, a-n Magazine, engage journal,  Museum Practice, FACTmagazine, Liverpool Daily Post, Arts Professional, NME, The Stool Pigeon, Aesthetica magazine, Clash magazine, Mute magazine, Amelia’s Magazine and Flux magazine.

I was the Project Manager and one of the Editors of Stories from the City 2008 – a collection of new writing about Liverpool.

I have also contributed to several books and exhibition catalogues. These includeLiverpool: City of Radicals published by Liverpool University Press and Edge Hill: An Unfolding History. Most recently I wrote an essay for the Liverpool Biennial’s academic journal, Stages.

I’ve also had short fiction and poetry published in numerous outlets.

In addition, I have lectured on subjects including culture and regeneration, undertaking community arts and heritage projects and the history of Liverpool for institutions including the Institute for Education, Liverpool John Moores University, Metal Culture and National Museums Liverpool.
