The so-called “English landscape garden” is a type of park that was developed in England in the 18^th century. It was created in deliberate contrast to the French-style Baroque garden that had predominated in garden design up until then, which shaped nature into precise geometric forms. With our tweet walk on 19 April and the hashtag #LustWandeln we set off on a journey into the 19^th century.

Nymphenburg Palace Park is one of the largest and most important artistically designed parks in Germany. Together with the Nymphenburg palace complex, it attracts art and nature lovers alike. Where the Bavarian court once hunted, held tournaments and put on plays, people from all over the world now come to stroll in the attractive surroundings. In its present form, the palace park is the result of a fundamental reshaping by Friedrich Ludwig von Sckell (1750-1824), who ranks as the founder of the English landscape garden in Germany. In 1804 Sckell became Court Garden Superintendant in Munich, where he completed the English Garden and turned large areas of the Baroque garden of Nymphenburg Palace into a landscape garden

15 participants sought for an exclusive event
For our tour of the palace park we are looking for 15 tweeters/bloggers/Instagramers interested in taking part in an exclusive event to be held on 19 April 2015 from 11am. With a professional guide we’ll visit selected stations in the park and learn about the structures and secrets of this complex. The successful participants (the names will be drawn!) will be the first to enter rooms in the palace and pavilions that aren’t normally open to the public, from the attic in the main palace to Maria Amalia’s shooting stand (Amalienburg) and otherwise inaccessible rooms in the Badenburg with a fantastic view of the Lion Valley. The walk will be followed by drinks in the Geranium House.

So join in wherever you are: in Bad Muskau, Berlin, Dessau, Hanover, Kassel-Wlhelmshöhe, Potsdam, Weimar, Wörlitz or elsewhere.
